What is this project about?
As a comics amateur, I was reading some comics on the Internet, but I wasn't happy with the rss system that most of comics websites offered and the lack of simple webcomics directory. That's why I created this project, which can be considered as an original webcomics directory, since readers can discover new authors through a random system (hence the roulette name!) or through the classic directory. I wanted the system to be simple, so I designed a simple home page with a random "next" button which would display a random picture (drawing,comic strip...) from the database.
I'm a reader, how does this work?
This website is really simple and reader-friendly : just click on the "next" button to discover a new random image. If you don't like it, click next again. If you like it, read it, and if you like either the style, the theme, the drawing... don't hesitate to click on the image to discover the author's website.
I'm an author/comics writer, and this sounds like an interesting idea. What exactly do you need from me?
I need contributions, a lot of contributions to have huge database of random comics/drawings.
What kind of images do you need?
Any kind (long, shot, complete, parts, drawings) since the website is a place to read and to discover, through hyperlinks. The best format would be short without vertical scrolling, and complete, like a gag-strip style comic, but that's not mandatory, as I already added plain drawings and parts of fixed-length full story comics.
I'm an author, how do I send you my artwork?
The easiest way to send me comic pages is either a directory link (like this) or a zipped folder to this email adress : admin at comicsroulette dot com
What about hyperlinks? Backlinks?
Each comic page of the database randomly displayed on the homepage is an hyperlink to the author's website, so don't forget to send me a link as well as the category name of the comic. Each contributor will have a backlink in the directory page of the website.
What about copyright?
Every comic page displayed on the website is added with the author's agreement. ALL rights belong to him. Please respect the copyright.
